Questions about Pets (pet lovers/experts welcome)?

I'm 15 years old until 2 years ago I've always had a dislike for cats. I thought they looked scary and sly. I suddenly realised I would love to have a pet I've looked at all ideas for a pet mainly focusing on hamsters, dogs and rabbits. I researched a lot about all of them but they all seemed to not be right. I am going to get a dog (a bichon frise or maltese) when I'm older but with school and my mum not really enthusiatic only spending all her spare hours at home washing dog poo from the carpet I decided that I could wait a few years before buying one. I then thought of getting a dwarf hamster since they mainly stay in a cage and can be left alone when I'm in school but since they are small and can sometimes bite I realised that if i brought it and it bit me i would probably drop it out of shock which isnt what i would want at all. I thought of getting a rabbit but I live in a flat so it would be very squashed and i wouldnt have any space to keep one. Now I'm thinking about getting a kitten, I want a chinchilla cat because they are adorable. I know a little bit about cats but I wanted to know your experiences with Cats and all the other pets above
