How to remove tile floor?

I'm looking for different ways to remove old tiles and thinset off my floor. It is an upstairs bathroom so its on a wood floor. House was built in 1967 so I dunno if its right on wood or if its on cement board. But I would like to try and save the subfloor if possible. I was just going to use a 10lb sledge and a flat chisel. But any help would be greatly appriciated.
