Do you think this was blood?

I start to panic at the sight of blood, and just now I was getting my washing in from the garden and hanging some more out, then I locked the garden shed and as I walked back indoors I noticed a blob of reddy/orange on my little finger. I started to panic and said to my husband that it could have been blood from an insect that I may have squashed without realising like a mosquito or something and he said I was being stupid and even if it was it wouldn't be carrying any diseases. Does it sound like it could have been blood to you? Really worried now, incase it was contaminated with something
